The Week in Arts and Entertainment: Thanksgiving Weekend

A weekly roundup of events around Canton in art, music, theater, film, dance, comedy and more.

Band "Jam" Night at LaSalle Market

The monthly Band Night at , held on the last Saturday of each month, continues tomorrow night from 7 to 10 p.m. with a performance by local guitarist Con "Coyote" Doty and his blues rock band, Bloodbrother. 

The series will then take a break in December for the holidays, returning on Jan. 28 with more familiar faces from LaSalle's weekly Open Mic Night, the talented Eric Paradine and Bill Benson. 

Crown & Hammer Restaurant & Pub

Singer-songwriter Mike Greca, a Newington native, returns to the tonight, Friday, for a mostly solo performance of his original compositions along with cover songs. Known for his soulful, jazz-infused style of musical storytelling, Mike's latest recording, Folklore, was released this year.

On Saturday, edgy singer-songwriter Laura Ganci and guitarist Dennis Fancher will play Laura's original tunes during a set showcasing each musician's unique talents. 

The Crown's live entertainment, which is always free, starts around 9:30 p.m.

The Fireplace Cafe 

Sweetheart Mountain, a Collinsville-based acoustic project featuring Arlene DeMaris, Sean MacDonald and Kevin Gallagher, returns to the Fireplace Cafe on Saturday from 9 p.m. to midnight. Their sound combines bluegrass and other traditional American styles. 

Bridge Street Live and Tolly's 41

"Round 3" of 's New York vs. Boston Comedy Series is tonight, Friday, and will be hosted by Mark Riccadonna. Representing Boston are comics Tony V and DJ Hazard, and representing New York City are comics Joe Currie and David Drake with special guest Frank Vignola. Fans of comedy can watch the sparks fly as comedians from two large comedy towns meet in the middle right here in Collinsville. 

On Saturday, Connecticut-based blues guitarist Debbie Davies brings her powerful live show to Bridge Street Live. The Revelations featuring Tré Williams open the show with a set of soul music highlighting Tré's smooth, baritone voice.

Bridge Street Live's packed Thanksgiving Weekend of music continues on Sunday night with acoustic musician and songwriter Vance Gilbert, whose varied and impressive performance resume includes touring as the supporting act for George Carlin. Opening Sunday's show is avant-folk artist Erica Buettner, who currently calls Europe home but was born and raised in Connecticut. 

Thursday, Dec. 1, brings a show billed as "The Greek Gods of Comedy Holiday Spectacular" to Bridge Street. Touring comics Basile, Jim Mendrinos and Ellen Karis promise an especially irreverent take on the holiday season. 

All shows this week are at 8 p.m. with doors to the performance area open at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at http://41bridgestreet.com.

, the new restaurant at Bridge Street Live, is open for dinner at 5 p.m. each Wednesday through Sunday whether or not a show is scheduled that night. This week, Tolly's 41 debuts their distinctive "41 Sauce," featured on the venue's Cabaret Menu on the Cuban Sliders and also for sale at Bridge Street Records. 

Dish 'n Dat

After opening early today, Black Friday, at 10 a.m., to accommodate holiday shoppers, keeps the kitchen open late, as usual, tonight. Entertainment from 8 to 11 p.m. will be provides by regulars Mike and Kier, who are members of the band Slacker's Union.  

Free Weekly Events

At , members of jazz band Swing 39 play as a trio on Fridays from 7 to 10 p.m., and return as a duo Thursdays from 7 to 10 p.m. On Saturdays pianist John Lomartra from Cromwell entertains from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

The popular Open Mic Night held at LaSalle Market Friday nights at 6 p.m. is hosted alternately by Eric Paradine and Con "Coyote" Doty. Call ahead or be early, as the sign-up sheet fills up fast.

Acoustic Open Mic Night at the Fireplace Cafe, hosted by singer-songwriter "GrimFacts" Ed Hoyer, Jr., continues each Tuesday starting at 8:30 p.m.

The  hosts weekly Karaoke Nights on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9 p.m. 

 also has a weekly Karaoke Night on Saturdays at 8:30 p.m., although that may change to Fridays soon. Stay tuned! 

At , artist Jim Koplar hosts an "Art Jam" on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. For a $10 cover charge, art supplies and instruction are provided in a casual, supportive and fun environment.
