Second West Hartford Date Planned for Evening with Art Garfunkel

Without promotion, Playhouse on Park show sold out in two days.

“An Intimate Evening with Art Garfunkel” was a sort of secret, under the radar concert planned for Saturday, July 27 at West Hartford’s Playhouse on Park.

But then word got out and the response was overwhelming.

Since the evening concert sold out so quickly, the 71-year-old star best known as half of Simon and Garfunkel agreed to another show. The second concert will be another “intimate evening” on Friday, July 26.

The concert is being described as “an acoustic rehearsal with songs, anecdotes, prose and a unique audience Q&A session.”

Tickets are $40 each, subject to a $2.50 processing fee. Seating is general admission, and on a first-come, first-served basis and limited to 160 seats.

Garfunkel has been on a tour, performing in these intimate evening settings as a slow return to the stage after a vocal problem. Garfunkel had to cancel a tour scheduled for 2012 to promote his new album, “The Singer,” according to billboard.com. The Bushnell was one stop on the cancelled tour.

The more intimate atmosphere may demand more careful attention to etiquette. In a previous concert in Great Neck on June 8, the singer stormed out after an audience member pulled out his cell phone to stop it from buzzing, according to Newsday and multiple reports. Garfunkel did return and finish the show.
