Photographs on Display at Matthew's Restaurant in Unionville.

Through his time on the Farmington, Tom Cameron has become an informal ambassador for its wild and scenic character and will be donating a portion of his photography sales during May for direct support of river preservation activities. The exhibition “The Farmington River Collection” is currently on display at Matthew’s Restaurant in Unionville.

The 40-plus images in this exhibit is a select set from a larger collection that all come directly from time on and around the Farmington River. Tom comments that “reflection symmetries, unique misty lighting, captured water motion and bold compositions dominate the collection. Included are rare close images of elusive heron, striking dew drenched webs, serene waterscapes, and many other images that one will see only rarely if ever. Anything in the rich river environment is a photo subject, from the smallest dew-drenched webs, to the reeds in the sunrise, spirit-driven fog and mist, trees, birds and even the occasional fisherman. The early morning symmetry on the quiet water is poetic, rapids are exciting. The variety of images light generates on the river is endless. All of these images clearly reinforce wild and scenic personality of the Farmington. Photography via the kayak is a wonderful adventure that opens up the wild and secret places on the river. Everyone knows the beauty in sunsets, but another whole series of breathtaking images appears at the beginning of the day, and many are unique to the sunrise event. This is where I most often dwell – with the sunrise, on the water.”
