Canton Amateur Summer Theater Readies for 'High School Musical' Stage Production

Cast and Crew in Canton’s Amateur Summer Theater program are refining their production of “Disney’s High School Musical: On Stage,” which they will present Aug. 2 to 4.

This week, the group of 26 kids, most from Canton, and a handful of staff members moved rehearsals from the Community Center to the Town Hall stage where production will take place from Aug. 2 to 4.

Learning to navigate the actual stage for several days is important, said music director Hannah Cole.

“They’ve been doing a great job,” she said. “They’re learning to rework a few things.”

This is the third year the town’s Parks and Recreation Department has offered the program. It started with about 10 kids that first year.
