Two Fun Programs at Canton Library Monday

A fun way to help kids become better readers is through a program called Reader's Theater. Today the Canton Library hosts this event and all are welcome.

Reader's Theater is an interactive program that allows children to work on reading skills while acting our scenes from popular plays. It is led by the Children's Programmer Michelle Fenton Begley.  Readers Theater "Science Club" Edition is for kids entering grades 2 to 5 who love to perform and can read aloud.

Rehearsals are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, July 21 - 24, from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.  The performance will be held on Thursday, July 24 at 6:30 p.m.

Readers' Theater Performance Club is free, but registration is required and space is limited.

Book Buddies, a popular summer program, pairs volunteers with 1 or 2 children for an hour of reading. The 6-week session runs through August 12.  Every week, children ages 3 through 7 will also work on a science activity as part of the program. Book Buddies is on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. or Tuesdays at 11:00 p.m.

Canton Public Library is located at 40 Dyer Avenue, Canton.  For information or to register call (860) 693-5800, or email childrensstaff@cantonpubliclibrary.org.
