Summer Concert Series Begins This Week

The Canton Summer Concert Series at Mills Pond Park begins this week with a solo acoustic performance by Tim Palmieri and includes future shows by classic rockers, some well known educators and music teachers and the return of a long-time tradition.

"I'm really excited for the concerts," said recreation director Brian Wilson. "We have again some interesting new people and some returning favorites."

From 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, Tim Palmieri takes the stage. He's known for his work with his work with the funk fusion group Kung Fu, the experimental jazz band The Breakfast and "The Beatles A to Z" concerts, during which he, Sean Miller and often other musicians play the entire Beatles catalog over 5 nights.

Other shows include the classic rock of Fat Dog, the eclectic sounds of musicians from DownRight Music and Art, the Farmington Valley Band and The Substitutes, a local favorite anchored by local educators Patrick Allen and Andy Robbin.

Shows take place at Mills Pond Park, except where noted, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Shows are free but will not be held in inclement weather.
