Snapping Turtle Causes A Little Excitement On East Hill Road

A large snapping turtle caused a little excitement on East Hill Road Wednesday afternoon.

Resident Sandy Boman pulled her car over as she noticed the turtle was by the road in the vicinity of the Canton Peace Pole near Little Mills Pond.

"I didn't want anyone to run it over," she said.

Her son Trevor and others were following in a car behind and also pulled over.

"It's not often you see a turtle that big," Trevor Boman said.

The Boman's and nearby resident Gary Miller watched traffic as the turtle crossed into Miller's yard.

They speculated it was a female looking for a spot to lay her eggs.
