Monthly Music Series Gives Back to the Greater Canton Community

Saturday concert benefits Gifts for Canton.

A year ago local singer songwriter Bill Benson approached LaSalle Market and Deli about a benefit concert.

That night netted $600 for the Canton Food Bank and was the genesis of what is now know as the Give Back Series held the last Saturday of every month.

"She's held on to that and is really excited about continuing it," Benson said of owner Eileen O'Connor-Kaminski.

Local musicians play for the evening while a donation box is set out for a local cause. Often it's a local family in need. The series has helped a local family purchase a refrigerator, another a wheelchair ramp. Other benefits have helped the families of a Newtown shooting victim and a local woman with cancer.

"There's been a lot of great things that have come out of the give-back series," Benson said.

This Saturday, the music will benefit Gifts for Canton, the Canton Chamber of Commerce's Drive for the less fortunate. Music runs from 7 to 10 p.m.

Featured will be Sarah Barrios and Another Road, a trio consisting of Benson, Eric Paradine and Deborah Gillespie.
