Celebrate National Trails Day on June 2 in Canton

Canton residents can join a combined yoga and hike event to commemorate the day on June 2.

Reconnect with nature in Canton with a fitness walk through Peoples State Forest on National Trails Day!

Canton will be marking the national event with a combined hike and yoga session starting at 8 a.m. on June 2, according to the Connecticut Forest and Parks Association pamphlet.

Steve Grant and Leslie Gordon will lead the walk, which will begin with a yoga warm up, move to a 3.5 mile hike and will end at Yoga Center of Collinsville for a 45 minute yoga session.

Bikers can also participate in a Trails-in-Motion ride along the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail and Farmington River Trail on June 1. All events begin and end in Simsbury.

A total of 152 Connecticut towns will be celebrating National Trails Day on June 1 and 2, according to the Connecticut Forest & Park Association.
