Bristol's Farm Market Now Open

Josh Bristol is running Bristol's Farm Market at Bristol's Farm this year.

The store will carry produce grown by he and other family members, some products from two farmers leasing land at the farm as well as other local goods, such as eggs and honey. Bristol said he will also bring on some non local products.

"It's going to be local or organic or both," he said. "I want to have a well-stocked market."

Bristol said it will also be the first year in many that the store will carry corn grown on site by the family, something for which his late grandfather David A. Bristol Sr. was well known.

The farm is a well-known Canton landmark that for several years recently was leased by Wild Carrot Farm. Last year was their last but two tentants have leased land from the family this year.

In addition, Bristol said he and other family members have nearly two acres on which they will grow corn, berries and some other products.

"I'm really glad to be back home, working on the farm I grew up on," said Bristol, a 2004 Canton High School graduate who spent several years out of state.

Right now the store is open from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

As the season goes on, Bristol plans to expand the hours. He will also expand the offerings as the season progresses but currently carries some flowers and herbs with vegetable plants coming soon.
