ShopRites of West Hartford and Canton Raise Over $10,000 to Benefit Foodshare Partner Organizations

Joseph Family Markets (owner and operator of the ShopRites in Canton and West Hartford) is thrilled to announce the success of its 2013 Partners in Caring golf tournament on August 7th, which raised over $10,000. The funds will support nine local food banks (partner organizations of Foodshare), including Gifts of Love, the Canton Food Bank and House of Bread, among others in the area.

Participants, volunteers, ShopRite associates and local business owners gathered for a fun-filled day focused on helping the hungry, which included brief remarks from Diana Goode, Executive Director of Gifts of Love. Goode commented on the reality of hunger and poverty in our communities, regardless of the town. “The people we serve are hardworking people in the Farmington Valley, barely making ends meet, who do not qualify for government support. Our slogan is ‘families helping families’ and the Joseph family continues to go above and beyond for our organization.”
