Community Corner

"Off the Beaten Path: A Local Author Fair," At Canton Public Library

Put twelve or fourteen authors and poets in the same room and envision the creative vibrations. Or crazy hubbub? No need to wish to be that eavesdropping “fly on the wall;” everyone is invited to Canton Public Library’s first ever Local Author Fair to enjoy the inspiration that having so much talent in the room may bring.

On Saturday, December 7, the Local Author Fair comes to the Canton Community Center, adjacent to the library. Kicking off the event at 1:00 PM will be a presentation in the Library Program Room by the author of Off the Beaten Path Connecticut: A Guide to Unique Places, Cindi Pietrzyk. Immediately following, at 2:00 PM in Room F, visitors will be welcome to greet, share refreshments with, and talk to a room full of local writers and poets who will also offer their works for sale, and autograph as requested.

In author Pietrzyk’s talk she reveals uncommon Connecticut attractions available right under our noses. Stories and slides she will tell and show will illustrate several of these little known or quirky locations, and point readers to some satisfying experiences and exceptional restaurants that are available in Connecticut. At the end she welcomes some give and take: she will answer questions and also take suggestions from the audience for new places to visit that she hasn’t yet written about.
