Irish Balladeers "The Kerry Boys" Perform Free Concert June 30 at Canton Public Library

For over 24 years The Kerry Boys have been one of Connecticut’s favorite Irish balladeers. On Monday, June 30, at 6:30 PM, the group will appear for Canton Public Library’s Family Summer Reading Kickoff event.  Former CT State Troubadour (’07-’08) Pierce Campbell performs on guitar, harmonica and vocals, with Paul Neri alongside on banjo, together playing traditional Irish ballads and Celtic style originals. The Kerry Boys are just plain Celtic fun!

The “Boys’” accomplished vocals and instrumental abilities have dazzled fans of all ages from Maine to New York. Their humorous, high-energy show will have you clapping and singing along with their broad collection of traditional and original Irish/Celtic songs. With 4 CD’s to their credit, The Kerry Boys have played throughout the Northeast at Irish festivals, libraries, town concerts, arts organizations, schools, Irish pubs, clubs and fairs.

Pierce Campbell’s musical credentials are extensive, sharing his expert guitar, mandolin and vocal talent in styles as varied as historical Civil war songs, to traditional Irish folk, to classic jazz. His fellow band member, Paul Neri, has performed on banjo for the past 45 years with bluegrass, jazz, and rock ensembles, including his ground breaking trio Spacegrass. Paul has shared the stage with The New Grass Revival, Tony Trischka and even played banjo with Orchestra New England. The concert will be held rain or shine, so with luck there will be a place for concertgoers to spread their own chairs/blankets and bring along picnic baskets. If it rains, all activities will move indoors.
