Canton Valley Dental Visits Cherry Brook Primary School

Canton, CT – In honor of Children’s Dental Health Month, which occurs every February, Canton Valley Dental visited Cherry Brook Primary School on February 26th to educate the students on the importance of good oral health and homecare.  The presentation addressed approximately 500 children from Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade classes.  Dr. Matthew Keefe, DMD, and Melissa Porter (Registered Dental Hygienist) helped students “brush up” on their tooth care knowledge and homecare practices.  They emphasized the importance of proper nutrition and its role in good oral health, while showing the children proper home care techniques.  Each child received a “goodie bag.”  A letter was emailed home letting parents know what was presented and asking them to discuss what was learned with their children to further promote better homecare practices.

Canton Valley Dental’s goal is to assist the community in achieving a healthy, confident smile.

They believe educating the children of our community is the best place to start.  Encouraging proper tooth care habits in children significantly increases the chance for a healthy mouth as an adult.
