Canton Man Claims CT’s First “Lucky for Life” 2nd Prize Worth $25,000 a Year for Life!

While on his way to CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill this morning, Arthur Bedard of Canton experienced a most unusual moment when he heard a “Lucky for Life” lottery draw game commercial on his car radio, touting the game’s new 2nd prize of $25,000 a year for life.  “It was surreal, knowing that I had a [2nd prize] winning ticket.”

The $2 Lucky for Life “Quick Pick” ticket that Bedard purchased for the September 30, 2013 drawing missed the Lucky Ball number, 22, but matched five of the winning numbers drawn; 13 - 18 - 23 - 37 - 39.

Across New England, 44,765 winning Lucky for Life tickets were purchased for the September 30, 2013 drawing.  Almost 14,000 of them were sold in Connecticut.

“I scanned my ticket in the ticket checker three times,” said Bedard with a laugh. “Seeing the second prize displayed was overwhelming!”

As a 2nd prize winner, Bedard opted to collect his prize as a one-time cash option of $390,000.  Bedard’s plans for his unexpected windfall were simple.  “I’m going to get a new furnace for the house and take my daughter on a special vacation.”

Bedard’s Lucky winning ticket was purchased at Canton Mobil, located at 306 Albany Turnpike in Canton.
