Ben & Jerry's Drops By Local Non Profit; Cements "Americone Dream" For Many

Molly Sweeney, Hebron; Cait Shaffer, Simsbury; and Kristen Baer, Canton; pose while attending a Ben and Jerry’s Scoop Truck stop on Aug. 8 at the offices of the National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter, in Hartford. As part of a summer promotional tour, the Ben and Jerry’s Scoop Truck is visiting multiple cities along the East Coast, giving out free samples of the company’s newest product line. Samples include several flavors, including Liz Lemon, lemon Greek frozen yogurt with a blueberry lavender swirl; Banana Peanut Butter, banana Greek frozen yogurt with peanut buttery swirls; and Pineapple Passionfruit, pineapple Greek frozen yogurt with chunks of pineapple and a passionfruit swirl. The National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter, responded to a newspaper article inviting Hartford businesses and non-profits to reach out to Ben and Jerry’s via social media networking sites. The chapter tweeted and posted numerous entertaining invites, urging the Ben and Jerry’s Scoop Truck to visit its offices on the campus of Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital, in North Hartford. Described by Ben and Jerry’s execs as being the “most enthusiastic tweeters in all of Hartford,” the chapter was awarded the first visit of the ice cream maker’s Hartford tour. The visit included free ice cream for chapter staff and 100 of its closest friends.  Molly Sweeney and Cait Shaffer are college sophomores currently conducting public relations internships with the National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter. Baer, who graduated three years ago from the University of Connecticut, is a former intern with the chapter. She is a marketing manager for a Sears Hometown Store, located in Barkhamsted.
