Congratulations to CrossFit Legitimus!
The Dowd Avenue business run by Brian Smith, Mark Izzo and Jen Conlin hosted the second annual "Mama Said Knock You Out!" CrossFit competition designed for - and open only to - "Mom-Athletes."
More than 80 women participated in the Nov. 3rd unique competition. With husbands and kids in tow, they tackled cleverly named workouts like “Pick Up Your Toys,” which featured five stations with different objects to lift, starting at 65 lbs.
The event was the brainchild of Marnie Smith, wife of co-owner Brian Smith, who felt the gym could reach a largely untapped market. While returning champion Jessica Dean of Shoreline CrossFit in Branford again took the top prize of $500, Smith, of Avon, and Arell Nankervis, of Torrington, both mothers of two, were CrossFit Legitimus's top finishers.
