Volunteer Firefighters Extinguish Car Fire in Collinsville

Incident took place in front of 41 Bridge St.

Firefighters extinguished a car fire in front of 41 Bridge St. in Collinsville Sunday morning. 

The fire was reported shortly before 11 a.m. and approximately 15 members of the town of Canton Volunteer Fire and EMS Department responded to the scene to fight the fire, redirect traffic and respond to any injuries. Fortunately there were none and no one was in the car when it ignited, officials said. 

There was some damage to the siding of the business building but it did not catch fire, officials said.

Responding to the scene were crews from Engine 1, 3, and 4 and Canton's main ambulance. While there are hydrants in the area, the department's water Tanker 7 responded as a backup. 

Canton Police officers were also on scene and talked to the owner of the car and performed other duties.
