Sold Out Favarh Legendary Tribute Event a Success

By Jean Andersen

Favarh, The Arc of the Farmington Valley, is proud to report their sold out, November fundraiser was a great success! The event featured the band “Big Shot,” performing a legendary tribute to the Beatles, Bon Jovi, Billy Joel and more. The group included special guest saxophonist, Richie Cannata, and bassist, Andy Cichon, both from the original Billy Joel Band. Jill Gioia from the CBS Show Rockstar Supernova opened the show.

With nearly 500 guests in attendance the Riverview banquet facility in Simsbury had a rocking party, hosted by Bob Maxon, NBC Meteorologist, featuring incredible entertainment, delicious food, open bar, many great silent auction items and a lot of dancing. A representative attending the event from CIGNA stated, “This was the most fun, classiest and top notch event I have ever attended. You really wowed me! This is the event I want to be at next year!”

The Big Shot $20,000 event sponsor, Farmington Bank, has been supporting Favarh’s fundraising events for over 15 years. Favarh would also like to thank additional sponsors, Anquillare, Ruocco, Traester & Co., CIGNA, Connecticare, First Niagra, Folly Farm, Juniper Reinsurance, Melanson & Sparagna, NBC, ROTHA Contracting, Schuster~Driscoll, Simsbury Bank, The Pollack Family, and The Rideshare Co. for their generosity.

The $70,000 net profit and success of the event was largely attributed to the support Favarh received from community members in attendance, businesses and individuals that supported the event with donations, sponsorships and ads.  The hard work of the dedicated “Big Shot” committee members and volunteers was also greatly appreciated.

Next year’s event will take place on Nov. 16, 2012 at the Riverview. If you are interested in receiving information about the event please contact Ronelle Cipolla at 860-693-6662 ext. 116 or rcipolla@favarh.org.

Andy Cichon an original Billy Joel band member ? He didn't join the band until the mid 2000's. Lazy journalism. Was it copy and paste ?

This is a submitted letter to the editor. I think the intent was to show that the musicians played with Joel himself.
