No Serious Injuries in Accident on Dowd Avenue Monday Afternoon
Crash occurred near Canton Springs Road.
No serious injuries resulted from a two-car accident on Dowd Avenue in the area of Canton Springs Road Monday afternoon, public safety officials said. The accident occurred shortly after 4 p.m.
After initial concerns of injuries, no one required transport to the hospital, police said.
Police Chief Christopher Arciero said the operator of one vehicle pulled out of the Canton Green area to cross Dowd Avenue and continue on Canton Springs Road and failed to see a vehicle traveling on Dowd Avenue toward Route 44.
In addition to police, members of the town of Canton Volunteer Fire and EMS Department responded, including the ambulance crews as well as others. Members of the department's fire police directed and diverted traffic at the scene.

Hi Marcie. I didn’t mention it in this article but the town is taking steps there. The hedges were trimmed and the police chief has asked the state to allow a right turn on red when going onto Route 44 from Dowd to shorten the backup that often goes past Canton Springs. Other possible measures are being discussed, including a traffic mirror.
