A 26-year-old man was hit in the face with a firework on Mohawk Drive, suffered a laceration to the forehead and was bleeding from the eye Monday night, police said.
Emergency Crews responded to 34 Mohawk Drive Monday around 9 p.m. Canton police officers, a crew from New Hartford Ambulance, the town of Canton Volunteer Fire and EMS Department and the fire marshal assisted at the scene.
Shortly after 10 p.m., the patient was transported to the hospital.
Police chief Christopher Arciero said the victim, who does not live at the house, lit a firework, which didn’t initially go off. When he approached it, the firework hit him in the face.
Individuals at the house were lighting off fireworks near a pond and police are investigating the incident.
“We’re looking into whether or not there were illegal fireworks,” Arciero said.
